Fingerless Gloves

Tonight I started looking at fingerless glove patterns for my friend witha skein of yarn I already have. I may pick up another skein of a different color and do a two-toned glove. We'll see...

I can't wait to see how they turn out! I'm going to do some for my MIL, SIL, and my mom (and myself after X-mas!)

Have you thought about the Phoenix mitts from the CLF book (I think, since Ravelry's down right now)? They are sooooo pretty.

Seems as if I am not the only one on a fingerless glove kick at the moment. Last week I made three pair!

Good luck! :) I'm dying to get the CLF book to try the ones in there.

Two-toned gloves are really cute!

I'm afraid to say this but I must...

I don't get fingerless gloves.

Sorry! I understand there's tons of love for them, but I just don't get it. It's my fingers that always get cold, not the rest of my hands... don't fingerless gloves just leave the part that needs to be kept warm out in the cold?

No 'disagree' button like on Rav, but feel free to tell me why I'm wrong. Some of the gloves are gorgeous so I WANT to be wrong. :)

Heather - I have really poor circulation. My hands are ALWAYS the part of me that get cold first. Most people are shocked at how cold my poor little fingers can get.

By keeping my wrists and hands warm, the blood doesn't get cold by the time it reaches my fingers. Therefore, my fingers stay warmer. I know it's odd, but it actually does help. And I've still go tmy fingers to do things like type or zip a zipper or open a can.

I don't know if it's as equally effective across the board, but they really do work for me!

Ah! I have wicked cold hands too, including getting the weird purple and orange blotches when they're really cold. Your explanation makes a lot of sense, and now I may just make a pair and see how they work while I'm writing! :)

Thanks so much. I feel enlightened. :)
